Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Charlotte Perkins Gilman was born on July 3, 1860, and was an American writer, humanist, lecturer, advocate for social reform, and eugenicist. She was also a feminist and served as a role model for future generations of feminists due to her unorthodox concepts and lifestyle. Her works focused on the subject of gender, specifically the division of labor between the sexes in society and the problem of male domination. Today, her most remembered work is the semi-autobiographical short story. The Yellow Wallpaper, which she wrote after a severe episode of postpartum psychosis. She died on August 17, 1935.
