Charles Palliser

Charles Palliser published five works of fiction, including historical novels. The Quincunx (1989) and The Unburied (1999). His latest novel is Rustication (November 2013). It takes the form of a 17-year-old writer's diary in the 1860s: his family has suddenly lost everything, and he joins them in a remote and hostile village on the south coast. Soon after his arrival, sinister things begin to happen in the district, culminating in a murder.
Charles Palliser wrote radio plays for BBC and to the stage. Before becoming a full-time writer in 1990, he taught literature and creative writing at universities in the UK and the US. His fiction has been translated into a dozen languages. Quincunx She received the Sue Kaufman Award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
Holding both Irish and American citizenship, he has lived primarily in the United Kingdom and is now based in London.
