Charles M. Schulz nasceu em 1922 em Minneapolis, Minnesota e faleceu em 2000, vítima de cancro, na noite anterior à publicação da sua última tira cómica. A sua carreira estendeu-se por mais de 50 anos onde desenhou mais de 18.250 tiras cómicas dos Peanuts dando vida ao angustiado Charlie Brown, ao romântico Snoopy, ao pianista Schroeder, a Linus e ao seu toten-cobertor e à auto-centrada Lucy. Todas estas personagens povoam o imaginário de milhares de pessoas por todo o mundo.
