Catherine Birndorf M.D. é especializada em Psiquiatria da Reprodução, uma área da medicina mental direccionada a ajudar as mulheres a lidar com as emoções e as condições psicológicas ligadas à maternidade e às mudanças hormonais.
Actualmente é directora do programa Payne Whitney Women no New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Na mesma estrutura é também professora associada de psiquiatria obstetrícia e ginecologia, leitora de experiência internacional, e exerce privadamente em New York. Juntamente com Lucy Danzinger, contribui com artigos na revista Self e participa no blog The Keys Blog.
