Cas Mudde

Cas Mudde was born in 1967 in the Netherlands. He is a professor of International Relations at the University of Georgia and a professor at the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX) at the University of Oslo. He specializes in political extremism in Europe and the United States, and is currently a leading expert on populist movements.
He is a co-founder of the Permanent Group on Extremism and Democracy of European Consortium for Policy Research (ECPR) and member of International Political Science Association (IPSA).
He regularly contributes to academic publications and the journal. The Guardian USAHe is the author of several works, including... Populism - A Very Brief Introduction (co-authored with Cristbal Rovira Kaltwasser); On Extremism and Democracy in Europe; Youth and the Far Right; Populism in Europe and the Americas: Threat or Corrective for Democracy?; Populist Radical Parties in Europe.
He received, among other distinctions, the award. Stein Rokkan Comparative Research in Social Sciences, in 2008.
