Professor catedrático de Estudos Ingleses da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas. Doutorou-se em Hispanic Studies, em 1993, na Universidade de Cardiff (UK). Fez a agregação em Teoria da Literatura na FCSH, em 1997. Fundador e diretor do ILNOVA (Instituto de Línguas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa), em 2006. Diretor do Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS), desde 2014, onde dirige o grupo de investigação Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies (TEALS). Coordena atualmente o Doutoramento em Didática das Línguas – Multilinguismo e Educação para a Cidadania Global e os Mestrados em Ensino (formação de professores da FCSH). António… é o seu segundo romance, depois de O Professor Sentado (2004).
