Carla Maia de Almeida nasceu em Matosinhos. Formou-se em Comunicação Social na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, e fez uma pós-graduação em Livro Infantil na Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Na Caminho publicou O Gato e a Rainha Só, Não Quero Usar Óculos, Ainda Falta Muito?, Onde Moram as Casas, Amores de Família, O Secador de Livros e agora a novela juvenil Irmão Lobo. Tem obra editada em Espanha, Alemanha, Sérvia, Polónia, Holanda, Itália, Brasil, México, Colômbia, Argentina e outros países da América Latina.
