Bruce Chatwin
Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989) is one of the most acclaimed travel writers of all time. He was a journalist for... Sunday Times Magazine for several years, and the resignation letter he sent to his superior became famous – it simply read: "I went to Patagonia." His most celebrated book is, precisely, In Patagonia, a classic of contemporary literature, a travelogue and portrait of the solitude of the vast territories of the southern hemisphere. His literary career was short (his career as a traveler must have been longer), but of enormous brilliance. His books, among which The Viceroy of Ouidah, What am I doing here?, Utz, Anatomy of Wandering or Return to Patagonia (with Paul Theroux), were published by Quetzal.
