Bronislaw Malinowski

Bronislaw Malinowski (1884–1942) was one of the greatest anthropologists of the 20th century. A precursor of the school of social anthropology, or functionalism, he was one of the first ethnographers to value fieldwork through participatory observation and to emphasize the need for close contact with his object of study.
