Bernhard Schlink nasceu em 1944, em Bielefeld, e é jurista de formação. Foi juiz do Tribunal Constitucional da Renânia Setentrional-Vestefália e professor de Direito Público e de Filosofia do Direito na Universidade Humboldt, em Berlim. Para além de Olga, na ASA foram já publicados os seus romances O Fim de Semana, O Leitor, (adaptado para o cinema e vencedor do Óscar para melhor atriz , atribuído a Kate Winslet), Neblina sobre Mannheim, O Regresso e O Outro Homem e Outras Histórias, do qual um conto foi também já transposto para os grandes ecrãs. As suas obras estão publicadas em 39 línguas. Atualmente, divide o seu tempo entre Berlim e Nova Iorque.
