Arnaldo Saraiva é professor emérito da Universidade do Porto, em cuja Faculdade de Letras ensinou ao longo de décadas, tendo também ensinado na Universidade Católica (Porto), na Universidade de Paris-Sorbonne Nouvelle e na Universidade da Califórnia em Santa Barbara. Integrou direções de instituições portuenses como a Cooperativa Árvore, o Boavista Futebol Clube e a Fundação Eugénio de Andrade, e é autor de uma extensa obra repartida pela poesia, pela crónica, pelo ensaio e pela tradução.
