António Luís Valente Gancho nasceu em Évora em 1940. Cedo começou a passar temporadas de internamentos em estabelecimentos psiquiátricos, tendo ficado até à sua morte na Casa de Saúde do Telhal. Escritor de uma linguagem inconfundível, fez parte da geração de surrealistas que frequentavam o Café Gelo, como Mário Cesariny ou Herberto Helder. Da sua mão, conhecemos o romance As Dioptrias de Elisa (1990) e O Ar da Manhã, coletânea dos seus poemas. Morreu a 2 de janeiro de 2006.
