Angela Lambert, filha de pai inglês e mãe alemã, nasceu em Londres em 1940 e viveu na Alemanha entre 1947 e 1950. Estudou Política, Filosofia e Economia no St. Hilda’s College, em Oxford. Iniciou a sua carreira de jornalista em 1969 como repórter de televisão. O seu primeiro livro Unquiet Souls - The Indian Summer of the Bristish Aristocracy foi nomeado para o Whitbread Prize, em 1986. Publicou também 1939: The Last Season of Peace e é autora de vários romances.
