Andrew Knapp

Andrew Knapp is Professor Emeritus of French Politics and Contemporary History at the University of Reading. He has also taught at the Universities of Paris-2, Paris-3, and Paris-7, as well as Oxford. His research has covered French political parties. Gaullism after de Gaulle (Paris, Seuil, 1996); Political parties and the party system in France (Basinstoke: Palsgrave Macmillan, 2004)), French postwar politics (as editor: The Uncer Foundation: France without liberation, 1944-47 (Basinstoke: Palsgrave Macmillan, 2007)) and, more recently, in the Allied bombing of France: Forgotten Blitzes: France and Italy under Allied air attack, 1940-1945 (London: Continuum, 2012); Les Français sous les bombes alliées, 1940-1945 (Paris: Tallandier, 2014); and, as co-editor Bombings 1944: Le Havre, Normandy, France, Europe (Rouen: Presses Universitaires de Rouen et du Havre).
