Andrea Abreu nasceu em Icod de los Vinos, nas Ilhas Canárias, em 1995. Cursou Jornalismo na Universidade de La Laguna e concluiu depois um mestrado em Jornalismo Cultural e Novas Tendências na Universidade Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid. Numa lista que se organiza a cada dez anos, foi selecionada aos vinte e seis anos pela revista Granta como uma das melhores escritoras com menos de trinta e cinco anos da literatura espanhola e hispano-americana contemporânea. Pança de Burro é o seu primeiro romance e irrompeu na cena literária com um êxito junto dos leitores e um reconhecimento crítico invulgares. Com publicação em trinta países, será também adaptado ao cinema.
