André Morellet

André Morellet nasceu em Lyon, em 1727, e morreu em Paris, em 1819. Escritor e filósofo, colaborou na escrita da Encyclopédie com artigos sobre religião. É o autor de Mélanges de littérature et de philosophie du 18e siècle e tradutor de Dos Delitos e das Penas, de Beccaria. Traduziu igualmente os romances ingleses O Monge, de Matthew Gregory Lewis, e Gaston de Blondeville, de Ann Radclife.
