Ana Hatherly nasceu a 8 de maio de 1929, no Porto. Licenciou-se em Filologia Germânica pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa e doutorou-se em Estudos Hispânicos pela Universidade da Califórnia, em Berkeley. A sua vasta obra inclui poesia, ficção, ensaio, tradução, performance, cinema e artes plásticas. Uma poeta de vanguarda, foi membro destacado e teorizadora do grupo da Poesia Experimental Portuguesa. Destacam-se as suas obras Eros Frenético (1968), Rilkeana (1999), ou o conjunto de textos reunidos em Tisanas, um trabalho que a acompanhou até ao final da vida. Faleceu a 5 de agosto de 2015.
