Amanda Scott é uma californiana de quarta geração, nascida e criada em Salinas e com um percurso académico em História no Mills College em Oakland, na Universidade da Carolina do Norte em Chapel Hill e na Universidade da Califórnia em São José. Atualmente vive com o marido e o filho no norte da Califórnia.
É autora de mais de cinquenta romances e os seus livros são presença regular nas listas de bestsellers do New York Times, mantendo-se nos lugares cimeiros de vendas durante semanas consecutivas. A crítica distinguiu-a com inúmeros galardões, nomeadamente com o prémio RITA.
