Alexandre Monteiro

Alexandre Monteiro is a nautical and underwater archaeologist. He is a member of the Portuguese Naval Academy and a researcher at the Nova University of Lisbon. He collaborates with UNESCO and INTERPOL in the hunt for treasure hunters. He was one of the winners of the FNAC New Talents Literature award in the Short Story category in 2013, and one of seven poets selected for publication in the 2015 Yearbook of Poetry by Unpublished Authors, by Assírio & Alvim. He has written two books about shipwrecks, one about those in Lagos and the western Algarve, and another about shipwrecks in the Azores. He lived on Terceira Island, where he hopes to be buried, preferably in royal Viking attire, so he can confuse future archaeologists.
