Alexandra Machado nasceu em Lisboa, em 1972. Licenciada em Ciências da Comunicação pela Universidade Autónoma, fez vários cursos de formação em economia e jornalismo multimédia. Começou a trabalhar como jornalista 1993. Passou pelas revistas Super Market, e Valor, pela Agência Lusa e pelos jornais Diário Económico e Jornal de Negócios, ao qual regressou em 2008 e depois de uma passagem pelo Diário de Notícias. Ao longo do caminho foi tendo cargos de coordenação e edição e hoje é editora multiplataformas do Jornal de Negócios.
