Alex Michaelides filho de pai grego e mãe inglesa, nasceu no Chipre, em 1977. Estudou Literatura Inglesa na Universidade de Cambridge e fez o mestrado de Escrita de Argumentos para Filmes no American Film Institute, em Los Angeles. O seu primeiro romance, A Paciente Silenciosa, cujos direitos foram comprados para 50 países, vendeu 4 milhões de exemplares em todo o mundo e está a ser adaptado ao cinema, numa grande produção norte-americana. O autor, que vive em Londres, é publicado em Portugal pela Editorial Presença.
