Alessandro Barbero (Turim, 1959) é historiador, professor e romancista, especializado na Idade Média e em história militar – um dos seus livros é considerado a maior descrição da Batalha de Trafalgar, e são famosos os seus livros sobre a Batalha de Lepanto e sobre a arte da guerra de Napoleão Bonaparte. Mantém colaboração permanente em programas de divulgação historiográfica na televisão italiana e no YouTube. O seu romance Bella vita e guerre altrui di Mr. Pyle, gentiluomo recebeu o prémio Strega, o mais importante dos galardões literários italianos; o romance Gli occhi di Venezia recebeu o prestigiado prémio Alessandro Manzoni.
