Adolfo Simões Müller (1909-1989), natural de Lisboa, foi escritor, poeta e jornalista. Trabalhou como secretário de redacção do jornal Novidades, fundou e dirigiu o jornal infantil O Papagaio e foi director do Diabrete e do gabinete de programação da Emissora Nacional, onde produziu diversos programas radiofónicos. Estreou-se na literatura com o livro de poemas Asas de Ícaro (1926) mas foi na literatura infantil que se celebrizou. Escreveu dezenas de livros infantis e juvenis onde se incluem o Meu Portugal… Meu Gigante, O Livro das Fábulas e as adaptações de Os Lusíadas, A Peregrinação e As Pupilas do Senhor Reitor. Em 1982 foi distinguido com o Grande Prémio da Literatura Infantil, da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, pelo conjunto da sua obra literária.
