Adolfo García Ortega
Born in Valladolid in 1958, he is a writer, translator, and columnist. In 1975, he fell in love with Madrid and chose it as his home. While participating in the political revival of the left, he worked various jobs, including plumber, carpenter, and postal worker, while studying Hispanic and French Philology. France is one of his great passions, for its culture and language, as evidenced by his work as a literary translator from French, an activity he has combined without interruption with writing. In the 1980s, he dedicated himself primarily to cultural journalism and literary criticism, especially in newspapers. El País, La Vanguardia and Diary 16, as well as in many cultural magazines of the time. Between 1988 and 1995, he was a consultant to the Ministry of Culture, serving in the cabinet of successive ministers Solana, Semprún, and Solé Tura. From 1995 to 2000, he was editor of El País-Aguilar, and was director until 2007 of Seix BarralSince then, he has worked in the editorial department of Grupo Planeta, in advisory roles. He regularly writes for several national newspapers.
