Abílio Amiguinho
Abílio José Maroto Amiguinho, date of birth: November 25, 1955. Graduated in Sociology and holds a PhD in Educational Sciences, specializing in Adult Education. He is a retired Coordinating Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, Territory and Development at the Higher School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, where he has worked since 1986. He is a founding member of the Institute of Educational Communities. He was President of the Board of Directors of the Higher School of Education of Portalegre and President of the Association of Public Higher Schools of Education. He was a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Educational Innovation of the Ministry of Education. He was President of the Scientific Council of ESECS. As a professor in Higher Education, he worked in areas such as School Administration, Educational Research, Adult Education, Social and Community Intervention, and Social Work, in both undergraduate and master's degree programs. He coordinated or was part of teams in several socio-educational intervention projects, most notably the ECO II Project, the Rural Schools Project in the Northeast region of Bahia, and more recently, the Project to Enhance Resources, Value and Qualify People and Organizations, also in rural areas and in this region of the country.
Author of several articles and book chapters, published in Portugal and abroad, and of the books Living the Formation: Building Change and The School and the Future of the Rural World, and co-organizer of the work Schools and Change: The Role of Training Centers.
Currently, she is a member of the governing bodies of the Institute of Educational Communities and the Portalegrense Workers' Cooperative, a cultural cooperative registered with CASES, where she participates in community aging intervention projects in low-density areas and from an intergenerational perspective.
