Leena Kuorelahti
Architect (MSc) Leena Kuorelahti works as the coordinator of studies and of the International Master’ Degree Program at the Oulu School of Architecture.
Since 2000 she has been a member of various boards, committees and strategy groups of the School of Architecture and the University of Oulu and represented the School in international conferences (e.g. ENSA) and associations (e.g. Nordic Architecture Academy), and has acted as an external expert in international educational projects, e.g. the EU/Tempus Structural and KTH coordinated Complementary Measures Project for MARKHI/ Moscow (2007-08).
Professional practice: Internships in architects’ offices 1980-84 (in Porvoo and Oulu), practice with two colleagues in Jyväskylä 1984-86 (Architects’ Office Kuorelahti & Rossi), own practice (designing private houses, vacation homes, renovations, exensions, interiors) parallel to the university occupation (-2004), Board member of Architects’ Office Järvinen & Kuorelahti Ltd Oulu (2004-).
Prizes and awards: Diploma prize for an excellent dissertation work awarded by the University of Oulu and Rautaruukki Steel Industries 1994 / Several prizes in open and invited competitions as a team member (Four 1st prizes, two 2nd prizes, two purchases, two honorary mentions 1984-2011) / Rector’s Award, University of Oulu 2006
